CARE
Soak
Rest the tips in warm water for 15 seconds before your first whisk of the day to instantly soften the bamboo fibers and maximize flexibility.
Whisk
Use a quick, relaxed "M" or "W" motion for 15 to 20 seconds. Let the Shin geometry dissolve clumpy powder into a smooth crema.
Rinse
Rinse under tap water immediately after use. No soap required. Shake off excess moisture and dry upright on a ceramic holder to maintain shape.

Questions from
our community
What makes this different from a regular matcha whisk?
Two things: the shape and the bamboo. Most whisks use the standard kazuho shape and white commercial bamboo. Ours is a shin profile, the formal shape used by Japan's two largest tea schools, with a tine geometry that produces real micro-foam instead of loose surface froth. And it's made from purple bamboo (also known as black bamboo), which has a denser cell wall and lower porosity than white bamboo, so it resists warping and mold and holds its shape far longer.
How does the whisk actually affect my matcha?
More than you'd expect. The tine geometry determines the size and stability of the bubbles in your bowl.
Loose, large bubbles pop quickly and leave your matcha thin and slightly bitter on top with undissolved powder sitting at the bottom. The whisk's shin shape has a gradual curve that folds air into smaller, tighter bubbles, real micro-foam, that suspend the matcha particles evenly through the whole drink.
The result is a smoother, creamier texture and a naturally sweeter taste from the same powder you're already using. The whisk doesn't change your matcha. It decides whether you're actually tasting all of it.
How often will I need to replace the whisk?
On average, users get between 9-12 months of daily use out of our whisks. Exact lifespan varies with how often you whisk, humidity, whether milk or sugar comes into contact with the tines, and how you dry and store it between uses.
Where are your products manufactured?
Our bamboo is sourced from Anji County in Zhejiang Province, a UNESCO-recognized bamboo biome and the world's largest purple bamboo growing region. Each whisk is handcrafted there by small studios that have been working this species for generations. Anji is to bamboo what Uji is to matcha.
